AIC Litein hospital has been identified as a training site for fifth year medical students doing electives rotation in both Kenyan and international universities including Nairobi university, Kenyatta University Maseno University, Moi university and Egerton Univeristy.
The hospital also provides nursing placements for students from Kabarak University and St. Clare mission hospital’s nursing school in Kaplong.
History of MTC
In 2011, the hospital management under the tutelage of the board of trustees setup a medical training college in the old hospital site.
To glorify God by training and developing competent Christina healthcare professionals
To be a model training institution in the region and beyond by producing competent multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
The college begun with its first intake of students for the three year medical laboratory training. In 2013 the college introduced diploma in nursing following approval by the nursing council of kenya
Today the medical training college has 320 students undertaking the two courses having been admitted through the March and September intakes
On august 21st 2015 the AIC Litein medical training college was officially opened by the cabinet secretary of health James Macharia
In 2017 the MTC added a three year diploma in clinical medicine and surgery to the list of courses country
At the moment the medical training college offers a diploma in nursing (KRCHN) and a Diploma in medical laboratory sciences.
Management of the MTC is also planning on introducing a three year diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery next year.
